Important Classes for ET Diploma

The most impactful classes for this program and key projects for each class

GEOG 100- Environment and Sustainability

In this class, we learning about the global biosphere, weather systems, and how the combination of human population, water availability, climate and access to resources has shaped the planet and how sustainability principles change accordingly. Green energy development and resource management (forestry, fisheries, agriculture, and oil production) was a key to understanding how national and international governments create policies, agreements and laws around environmental protection and sustainability.

Important projects:

ENGL 170- Technical Writing

In this class, we learned how to produce professional writing, including emails, memos, reports, presentations, letters and manuals. Grammar and writing styles were also covered to ensure that we had the ability to clearly communicate in the professional environment. Two projects were the focal point of the classes: a user manual and a collaborative report where I worked with two other classmates to research, write and format a professional report.

ENVR 115- Atmosphere and Hydrosphere

In this class, we learned how water and air cycle through environments and influence climate, as well as field skills for observing, recording, and analyzing data. We regularly used CABIN in the lab to better understand local waterways.

ENVR112- Environmental Research and Practice

This class focuses on the field skills that will be important for any future field work. We learned GIS (field map app), Total Station Surveying, soil sampling, BEC, CABIN, Rod and level, and report writing. We learned how to write Restoration reports, Environmental consulting reports, and a CABIN report. Below are my Cabin report and restoration report.
