Vancouver Island University

I graduated from Vancouver Island University (VIU) in the summer of 2019 with a Bachelor Arts in Sports, Health, and Physical Education.

As part of the Sports, Health, and Physical Education program, I have been active within the program as part of the program’s club. From 2017-2018 I was the Treasurer and from 2018-2019 I was the President which required far more responsibility. It has been an amazing learning experiences from which I have learned how to delegate, organize large and small events, budgeting and fundraising. Through this, I feel more comfortable with the prospect of eventually opening my own small business. Not to mention it has been a blast! Below is one of such event, where I formed Club SHAPE Team to attended in the VIU Games.

Throughout the program, I had a focus on Nutrition and Wellness. The most impactful classes were:

  • PHED 252: A Holistic Approach to Nutrition
  • PHED 132: Fitness and Conditioning ( presentation on eating )
  • PHED 391: Research Methods in Physical Activity
  • PHED 352: Nutrition for Health and Sport
  • PHEd 371: Organization and Administration of Physical Activity
  • PHED 222: Physical Activity and Local Food Production
  • PHED 351: Human Wellness
  • PHED 301: Advanced Anatomy
  • PSYC 333: Positive Psychology
  • PSYC 327: Health Psychology
  • PHED 473: Applied Field Placement Internship
  • PHED 491: Scholarship in Sport, Health, and Physical Education

The last two spring semesters I have been tutoring for PHED 352. In the first semester I was volunteering as a tutor and then in the second semester I was hired by the University’s Peer Supporter Learning program. It has been a great experience as it been a way for me to help educate peers on a subject that I’m very passionate about.
